For years Western Eagle’s Food Box Project was a viable option to stretch the budget here in the Valley. Earlier this year Western Eagle had to stop coming up to their delivery host site at the Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church run by ‘From the Heart Ministries’. Seeing a need in the area for a much needed affordable food source; Valley Gospel Chapel (VGC) has decided to start helping those who want to buy Western Eagle’s food boxes again for $25 a box.

What is Western Eagle’s Food Box Project? According to their website-

"Western Eagle Foundation is committed to feeding the hungry. In 2001, Project Food Box was launched to help families that may or may not be recognized in the guidelines for food programs offered by government agencies. There are no forms to fill out, and no income requirements to meet to participate in the program. They welcome everyone and are committed to helping anyone, including single moms, senior citizens, foster homes and the unemployed who are in need of low cost groceries.

For $25, you receive a supply of food that will feed a family of four, 2 meals a day each, for an entire week. Each food box contains the following items:

Breakfast: Cereal and complete pancake mix

Dinners: Pasta with sauce, rice and beans, hamburger and Tuna Helper, nashed potatoes, canned foods (baked beans, vegetables and more), seasonal fresh produce.

Also included are additionally-donated items such as milk, cheese, yogurt (as well as a wide range of other dairy products) Advertisement

soda, snacks, bread items and more. Meats and dairy products are available at an additional reduced cost."

VGC will be collecting names and payment for the amount of boxes a family wants to order ahead of time--cash only. This will be on Tues. September 3rd from 4-6 pm at the church. Then their orders will be picked up, Wed. September 4th, from Western Eagle in Temecula in the morning and the same day orders will be available to be picked up between 4-6 pm at the church. If you would like to sponsor someone’s food box who is in need, with a donation please contact the church.

Prepayment will always be needed the day before boxes can be picked up each time so it is suggested that if you can prepay for two pickup dates then each pick up date, which will fall on the first Wednesday of each month, you can pay that day for the next time. Then you will not have to travel to the church which is in the Terwilliger area twice to get your food boxes. VCG is location at 43275 Chapman Rd Anza, CA 92382. Travel south on Kirby to Wellman to Terwilliger then right on Bailey and left onto Chapman, the church is on the right. Go to the offices off the courtyard in the middle.
