‘Boomers Rock’ to open Feb. 27

Friday, February 15th, 2013
Issue 07, Volume 17.

TEMECULA – The second project for Theatre Arts West (TAW) after their sold-out production of "Art" is "Boomers Rock" – a James Irvine Individual Artist Grant winning off-beat comedy by TAW artistic director Gailee Walker Wells.

"‘What happened?’ It’s a question asked daily by most of the 79 million American Baby Boomers born between 1946 and 1964. Tonight, hundreds of Boomers who have found themselves starting over are coming to the 50th birthday party of Ashlin Templeton - whose books have given them courage. But, when a girl appears just hours before the party, claiming to be Ashlin’s daughter because of eggs stolen from a fertility clinic 16 years ago, myths about family, security, and the American Dream explode."

With a cast made up of actors from San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Sun City, Fallbrook, and Advertisement

Aguanga, and rehearsal space scarce, TAW will use SKYPE to bring all of the actors together via the internet for most of the rehearsals of the dramatic staged reading which will be performed at The Merc in Temecula on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.

Another unique experience will be the inclusion of the audience in the final minutes when – in a Field of Dreams moment – the audience has an opportunity to become part of the play which will end with a birthday party for Ashlin Templeton. Cupcakes will be provided by Temecula pastry chef Cathryn Howard’s Truly Madly Sweetly Bakery.

Theatre Arts West is dedicated to growing the awareness and support of local businesses by incorporating their products and services into productions.
