The special feature was a presentation given by Marilyn Peck, Flavia Kreig and Sandi Hughes on disaster preparedness and by Kathy Wood on CPR for Laypersons. Kathy is an expert who gives classes in CPR training. Anyone interested in getting CPR certified, contact Kathy at 763-2999. Flavia spoke about MCOR which prepares for both short term and long term emergencies. The presentation by Sandi regarded CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). CERT groups across the nation are comprised of people in neighborhoods. There is always the chance that Advertisement Marilyn Peck’s presentation covered basic preparedness. DAS means Disaster Aid Station. It is a collection point for hill residents and visitors and business in an emergency. It is not a substitute for your personal preparedness needs. CERT search and rescue teams and damage assessment teams deploy from these DAS units. We were given lists of what to collect now, before a disaster, to get prepared. The ideal storage container is a 55-gallon can. The lists covered clothing, bedding and sanitation supplies. Raffle Drawings: The unwrapped gift was won by Annie Ashby; the wrapped gift by Barbara Cobb; and the 50/50 of $28.50 by Tonie Ford.
