Talent was displayed at the Anza Valley Holiday Art Show this year, a feast for the mind, heart, and eyes. Various mediums were used on various types of canvases; some painted on Spanish roofing tiles, like Mary Marlin, and some on gourds, like Rosie Grindle. The type of art varied also, Angel Garcia specializes in watercolor scenes of Anza. Most of these works of art are for sale and many artists had a line of cards such as Rex Herrison who paints from photos, combining the best in the picture with what he thinks should be there.

Jill Roberts was the feature guest artist, as Colony Manager of the Dorland Mountain Arts Colony in Temecula. She is involved in the Advertisement

local art scene and has the distinct privilege of meeting artists, writers, musicians, and other creative individuals from all over the world who reside at Dorland for their secluded working retreats.

Now that Roberts lives in Anza she is also thinking of offering paint lessons here locally. Other artists present were Rex Herrison, Angel and Rosie Garcia, Merrie Kraatz, Sue Smith, Gloria Swanson, Rosie Grindle, Rika Anctil, Mary Marlin, and Naomi Cochrane

It is not too late to purchase an original piece of art or cards for the holidays. If you would like to contact one of these artists concerning their art, call the Anza Valley Artist Club President Sue Smith at 763-5488 and she will pass your information on to the artist.
