I finally got the last of my apples picked. We now have a winter’s supply of applesauce, dried apples, and sliced/frozen apples for pies. I can’t believe it, but my Early Girl Tomatoes are still producing. Maybe the plant is making up for being so late getting started. Now, we’re planning a winter garden. My son just can’t keep his green thumbs out of the soil, much to my pleasure.

We’re having another auction on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring in your useable items that you have no further use for. Make sure they’re clean and useable.

The post is holding a special dinner on Nov. 9 to celebrate the anniversary of our Men’s Auxiliary. They will supply turkey or ham and members are requested to bring a side dish or dessert. The cost is $5 or free if you do bring a side dish. There will be entertainment at 6 p.m.

We’re selling flags at the post, complete with pole and bracket for $20. Everyone should have one flying to show they’re proud Americans. I think our flag is the most beautiful one in the world. Veteran’s Day is coming up and everyone should fly the flag to show support for our veterans, past and present.

The comrade’s meeting is now being held on the second Thursday of the month.
